Jaylen Brown has been enjoying what has been the best season of his career this season; he’s been playing like one of the top 15 players in the NBA all season and you could very well make the argument he’s even played like one of the top 10 players in the league as well. His name has been mentioned in trade rumors over the past 3 seasons as the Celtics have looked to see if they could acquire a superstar the caliber of a Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant; which would obviously make them betting favorites to win a championship with their own home-grown superstar Jayson Tatum. Judging off last year’s NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors I left my self wondering what could’ve been if a duo of Kawhi Leonard-Paul George had faced the Warriors. I honestly would’ve picked the Clippers if that were the case but I asked myself, are Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum potent enough to get the Celtics to what would be the 17th NBA title in franchise history? I think they could very well win it all this season so long Jayson Tatum doesn’t let the butterflies in his stomach take over once again like he did against Golden State in the Finals last season.
So Jaylen Brown remaining in Boston really relies on whether they win the championship within the next 2 seasons. I mean I think the Boston fan-base wouldn’t mind seeing him gone if they can’t capitalize on last season’s collapse; which brings me to the Atlanta Hawks a team in search of an identity with new coach Quin Snyder looking to help right the ship with dynamic guard Trae Young at the helm. The Hawks have several question marks on their roster, what should we make of disgruntled power-forward John Collins who hasn’t been able to figure out his role within the Hawks while being coached by what will be 3 different basketball minds in Lloyd Pierce,Nate McMillan, and now newly hired Quin Snyder? Will the 2 headed snake of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young be enough to get the Hawks to the promised land? How much better can young athletic forward De’Andre Hunter become? They just shockingly re-signed international guard Bogdan Bogdanovic to an extension, so what direction are the Hawks going in and are they really building a team which could become a legitimate contender in the future?
I could definitely see Jaylen Brown in a Hawks uniform, it’s pretty intriguing to say the least being that we saw a former high-flying athletic specimen in Dominique Wilkins don the Hawks notorious white,yellow,and red colors for well over 10 years in Atlanta. The question is will Jaylen Brown adapt to playing small-forward, he’s practically been playing the 2-3 position all season in Boston as Celtics’s head coach Joe Mazzulla has been going with small line-ups all season due to the absence of young dynamic big Robert Williams III; who will look to be crucial for the Celtics’s title hopes as we approach the playoffs. Would their be a scenario were the Celtics win it all next season, lost the following and Brown takes what would be an eventual exit on a run with Jayson Tatum which would have likely ran its course? Who’s to know but I believe it’s guaranteed he bolts elsewhere if Boston can’t get over the hump with their incumbent duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown from now till 2025 rolls around. I believe the behind the scenes chatter has gotten to Jaylen Brown as he has practically questioned Boston’s loyalty towards him and has clearly stated he wants to be where he is wanted, much like former Laker Russell Westbrook expressed after arriving on his new home the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Hawks? They need more, they more than likely make the playoffs this season but they’ll just be chopped liver for the top dogs in the Eastern Conference. We’ve been saying it for years how the Hawks are one piece away from becoming a legitimate contender. Some have questioned whether Trae Young is worthy of being the franchise player in Atlanta, but after he carried the Hawks all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals the 2020-2021 season there should be no doubt he is not the problem in Atlanta. It would definitely be enticing to envision a scorer of Jaylen’s caliber playing with one of the most dynamic guards in the game in Trae Young; as he has never quite had that opportunity lining up alongside guards such as Isaiah Thomas,Kyrie Irving,Terry Rozier,and Marcus Smart who aren’t what I would say true floor-generals like Trae Young. Playing with a passer the caliber of Trae would do wonders for Jaylen Brown’s game as Trae could get him an easy 10-15 points a night just off back-door passes,lobs, and boy would the Hawks make defenses pay if they ever dare trap Trae Young again with a dynamic scorer like Jaylen Brown having extra room to work with. It’s time for Hawks General Manager Landry Fields to get all the clutter out of Atlanta and clean the books for someone who will help take Hawks basketball to heights it might’ve never seen, and that’s Jaylen Fly-High Brown.
