Bronny James won’t be eligible for the NBA Draft till at least 2023 so we are still 2-3 seasons away from possibly seeing LeBron James play with his son in the NBA. Talk about something that could help enhance his legacy, Michael Jordan dominated the 1990’s on his way to two 3-peats and stopped superstars Charles Barkley,Reggie Miller,Patrick Ewing,John Stockton, and Karl Malone from ever winning a NBA title on his watch. Michael Jordan will forever have that invincibility to him which will forever give him the edge in the debate between him and LeBron James who is still rounding out his legacy. I’ll tell you this much when LeBron hangs them up I think it will be some time before we see a superstar as polarizing as LeBron has been. LeBron has received hate like no superstar in NBA history and has responded and won despite the doubters and haters whose hate has reached personal levels.
On to Bronny James the expectations for the kid will be sky high and I’d say he’ll never be as good as his father, don’t get me wrong I could be completely wrong but LeBron James is in discussion for being the greatest basketball player in NBA history. Bronny James will more than likely grow up to be 6’5″-6’6″ and play the shooting guard position at the NBA level. I’m sure LeBron will mentor his son to have the unselfish approach to the game of basketball that has lead to LeBron James being the most complete player in NBA history. Bronny James won’t be as athletic as LeBron James, more than likely he will be a better mid-range shooter,3-point shooter, and play more within a system than LeBron has done in his career but he will more than likely not be the team leader his father has been over the course of his career.
Now the question is where will Bronny James be playing, by teh year 2023-2024 LeBron will probably be done winning titles and won’t put much emphasis on trying to win a title with his son the first season they play together. I’ll predict LeBron signs a 3-year deal once his Laker contract is up with an option for the last season and that could be with the Lakers or could be wherever Bronny James gets drafted. I wonder how will LeBron take an exit from the NBA, Michael Jordan exited the NBA in fashion getting a crucial steal and shaking Bryon Russell out of his shoes for a super clutch mid-range jumper off the dribble. Kobe Bryant suffered an Achilles injury and was teary in the locker-room and was never the same, he exited in fashion against the Utah Jazz scoring 60 points bringing the Lakers back in the 4th quarter and leading them to victory. LeBron James? Will he retire the season he catches Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record? No one knows we will just have to wait and see.
To conclude I once heard someone make a joke that LeBron will retire with the Cavaliers and win his 6th NBA title alongside his son Bronny James, talk about something being a pipe-dream but like Kevin Garnett once said after finally winning his first NBA title with the Boston Celtics 2008, “Anything is possible!!!!!”. I think Bronny James will be a superstar at the NBA level and quite possibly a top 5 player in the NBA at some point, can he be the best player in the NBA like his father has been for practically his whole career? I would not bet on it but Bronny and LeBron playing together could be interesting, or would it be better to see LeBron compete against his son? It will definitely remind me of 1997-1998 when a young Kobe Bryant went up against the man you could practically call his father at the NBA level Michael Jordan since Kobe emulated everything Jordan did on the basketball court. The curiosity and hype will grow for Bronny James over the next few years as he approaches the age of 18 and becomes eligible for the NBA draft, LeBron will be keeping his options in the future best believe it.
