So John Wall is locked in for the next couple seasons with a contract which is far from trade-able so should the Wizards bring over DeMarcus Cousiins
to keep him happy? I believe they should, John has been faithful to the Wizards his whole career and is reportedly looking healthier than ever as he recovers from an injury which has kept him out of action for over a year now. He is probably the most forgotten star I’ve seen in my 24 years of watching basketball. It was cool to see Bradley Beal try and carry the Wizards this past season as he averaged nearly 30 ppg but with injuries to promising rookie Rui Hachimura Bradley Beal has not had enough help on the offensive end to help the Wizards clinch a playoff berth this season. Tommy Sheppard shockingly convinced Bradley Beal to sign a contract extension and all signs point to him sticking around at least all of next season before deciding whether he’d be better off elsewhere next summer.
Now on to DeMarcus Cousins who most believe will never be the dominant center he once was prior to suffering a severe injury in a Pelicans uniform. He soured out in Sacramento and was part of a successful experiment in New Orleans alongside Anthony Davis until injuries struck. For the first time since Tim Duncan and David Robinson lined-up together in the same front-court 1999 and lead the San Antonio Spurs to a title 1999 Dell Demps and the New Orleans front office took a crack at building a roster around two all-star bigs which ended up being successful but contract talks broke down between the Pelicans and DeMarcus Cousins shocked the NBA by joining the Golden State Warriors on a 1-year $5 million dollar contract. He dealt with injuries for the most part in a Warriors uniform and was a shell of himself in the NBA Finals leading most to believe his time as an all-star might be over. So should the Wizards take a shot at Demarcus Cousins? I believe they should, John Wall wants him in Washington and what’s the worst that can happen? Toss the guy a 1 year contract and make a run for the title with John Wall,Bradley Beal, and DeMarcus Cousins.
It should be an all-in season for the Washington Wizards this coming year, give Bradley Beal and John Wall one last run together and if all fails then start the rebuild. It’s not like the Wizards couldn’t need any help at the center position, no disrespect to Thomas Bryant who signed a 3 year $50 million dollar extension but he will never be the player DeMarcus Cousins has been his whole career. I just believe the Wizards owe it to John Wall to build a team to his liking with players he wants in DC just to see how it plays out. Let’s not forget John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins were once teammates at Kentucky and I’m sure DeMarcus Cousins would be on board with playing with John Wall a former teammate of his in college. For DeMarcus Cousins it can be an audition season and what better place to do it than on a team where expectations will be low, no one is expecting the Wizards to knock off the Nets,Bucks,or Celtics next season. I always believe that a team that has good chemistry and guys that want to play with each other always ends up being a positive so worst case the Wizards lose in the first round and move, best case could be having a shot at a championship next season with a healthy and rejuvenated John Wall.
To conclude I once remembered how good John Wall at carrying the Wizards, he could do everything well except be a reliable floor spacer. He was athletic and a flash down the floor, he could run the offense to a tea and was the ultimate floor general. His defense was never spoken about but I always admired him for his charisma and good heart after watching a young little girl lose her life to cancer as he shed tears which really showed me the type of person he was. I believe the Wizards owe it to John Wall and maybe if the Wizards make a surprise run at the Finals next season it will go to show many that anything is possible in life. John Wall was once considered the best all-around point guard in the game and I have no doubts he will return to his former self. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins would compliment each other perfectly on pick and roll plays and Wall will willingly get Cousins the ball in the post so I believe the Wizards should sign DeMarcus Cousins, let me know what you think on the comment section and thanks for reading, till next time.
