The Coronavirus has hit the NBA and Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell have tested positiv. I wanted to watch Zion play one of my favorite players
De’Aaron Fox last night but I ended up watching a young girl cry on her father’s shoulder and that really just made me start worrying, the low vibes around the Kings arena really just put me down and I turned off the TV. Its frustrating, I live and breath the NBA daily and dedicate a good amount of my free-time watching games, highlights on Youtube, and expanding my knowledge of the game so the NBA being postponed is like bad news all-around. Donovan Mitchell just tested positive for the Coronavirus and at this point what happens with both Gobert and Mitchell? It reminds me of Magic Johnson when he was diagnosed with AIDS and he had to announce his retirement.
It’s sad because the way Mitchell and Gobert will be perceived now will be differently, my prayers go out to both as they battle to stay alive with this ongoing virus which has taken the United States by storm. My knowledge of this virus is very minimal just like a good majority of the United States but the NBA is entertainment and everyone’s life matters. Italy has over 1,000 cases of coronavirus and the virus is spreading more and more. They say if you have a weak immune system and are of older age you would be more prone to catch the virus so to any one reading this blog post if you can afford to stay home and you have everything you need do so. From September 11,2001 when I was playing at recess in Elementary School and the planes hit the World Trade Center this has to be the biggest crisis we’ve had since that tragic event 2001.
The NBA is considering letting players play out the rest of the Season in empty arenas, that totally caught me off-guard but if I can watch it on TV I’m all for it. Obviously it won’t be as exciting but it would be like playing the video game where you practice in a empty arena or you play an exhibition game where the arenas are packed and fans are jumping out of their seats after a LeBron James finish at the rim. Speaking of LeBron James, I want to see him win his 4th Championship as he continues to add to his legendary legacy but what worries me is he is 35 years old and eventually he won’t be the legend he has been for 17 years in the NBA. I could be a fanboy and say LeBron James is so amazing he’ll 3-peat with Anthony Davis but I am realistic and do understand father time so I am aware LeBron James will eventually decline but I still think he has another 2 Superstar seasons in him where he could be regarded as the best in the game.
This is probably one of my shorter articles but to conclude I won’t turn on a TV unless it’s to watch a NBA game. After the NBA season I go through a 1-2 month drought after the NBA Draft and Free-Agency is over where I’m eagerly waiting for preseason to kick-off even though I know it’s pretty much an exhibition as players gear up for the real dance. It sucks because Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are facing a lif and death situation, my prayers go out to both because mentally I would not know how to function if I caught the virus. I see people making jokes about the Coronavirus and I understand a little humor goes a long way in connecting with others but innocent people are losing their lives, let’s be a bit sympathetic, till next time.
