The Warriors Era is over.

It was a fantastic 5 years for the Warriors as we got to see the greatest combination of shooting ever with Stephen Curry,Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant in the same lineup but Kevin Durant is in Brooklyn now somewhere he hopes he will feel more appreciated for his contributions. The Warriors built their team through the draft and were able to re-sign Curry

to a modest deal due to his lingering ankle issues, that allowed for the Warriors to have enough cap space to sign Kevin Durant which took the team to an elite level. Anyone who hated this team was a LeBron James fan because Kevin Durant on the Golden State Warriors blocked LeBron James’s pursuit of more titles to catch Michael Jordan. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have broken 3 point records and were unselfish enough to embrace Kevin Durant with open arms to win 2 titles, would’ve been 3 if Kevin Durant was healthy but that is in the past now.

I personally never saw Stephen Curry as a Hall-of-Famer despite his gaudy 3 point shooting and ability to shoot an elite level coming off-screens or off the dribble. His shooting has transcended the NBA because his rare ability to sacrifice high assists totals by terrorizing opposing defenses with his quickness off the ball allowed for Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to take higher percentage shots, there were times the Warriors looked flawed without Stephen Curry in the lineup. The NBA exaggerated the Golden State Warriors to be this unbeatable team due to their 73-9 record which eclipsed the 72-10 record set by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in 1996, adding a player of Kevin Durant’s caliber was deemed as unfair for the NBA but the Warriors were far from unbeatable. And again being that LeBron James struggled to beat them the 2016 Finals and lost to them 2015, LeBron fans could not fathom Kevin Durant putting the Warriors over the top.

No one can canvince me Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s return will make the Warriors a title favority again  next season, all I saw was Kevin Durant’s greatness on display and I missed a bit more of it these past Finals due to him getting hurt. He was on his way to a great game and got hurt again, how great it would have been to see Kevin Durant return and win a 3rd consecutive title something LeBron James has failed to accomplish? I am not coming down on LeBron James by no means, I feel Kevin Durant and LeBron James are neck and neck but I prefer Kevin Durant. And just to touch on Stephen Curry I do not feel he has surpassed Isiah Thomas or Magic Johnson on the all-time list and is not a Hall-of-Famer just like the GOAT Michael Jordan stated. He choked away a 3-1 lead the 2016 Finals and under performed with 17 points on his home floor and could not lead the Warriors past the Raptors despite Klay Thompson going down with injury.

To conclude I was a huge fan of the Warriors when the signed Kevin Durant because I thought I saw the most beautiful basketball ever when I saw Chris Webber and Vlade Divac work magic from the low-post and anchor one of the NBA’s most high octane offenses in the early 2000’s but Kevin Durant on the Warriors was the most seamless basketball fit of all time. Most NBA fans won’t give Kevin Durant the recognition he deserved for what he did on the Golden State Warriors but the fact that they won’t be winning anymore championships speaks to how dominant a basketball player he is.
