Carmelo Anthony was my favorite player growing up, all I ever felt he needed was a team to cover up his weaknesses the same way
the Warriors do for Stephen Curry on defense. Curry had the luxury of having Klay,Durant,Iguodala,Livingston, and Green who can all defend 1-4 basically allowing for Curry to rest on defense.
The Bucks have Giannis,Bledsoe, and Middleton who excelled in Mike’s motion offense and defense which involved a lot of screens and movement off the ball something Melo is not known for. I feel Milwaukee is an interesting destination for Carmelo Anthony because he would be able to play his game and be a closer there.
Let’s face it, Giannis is arguably the best player in the league but he can’t shoot or break down defenders like Carmelo even with Melo being the age he is. I can’t think of 7 scorers better than Carmelo Anthony right now in the NBA, if the Bucks want to up their chances of winning a title they better take a risk on Melo. He was not utilized properly on the Thunder and Rockets regulated to a spot up shooter and having to play off the ball constantly.
I feel on the Bucks Bud will give Melo a defined role off the bench as a 6th man scorer who can come in and get you 15-30 points. Melo could contend for 6th man of the year next season on the Bucks but how does that sit with Melo’s ego? He laughed off coming off the bench on the Thunder, maybe Bud can start him at the 3 and use Giannis in a Draymmond role where he can guard all 5 positions on the court.
To conclude if I were the Bucks I would be all over Carmelo Anthony. Have Giannis take a step back into more of a play-maker Magic Johnson like role and have Carmelo Anthony be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Khris Middleton could be James Worthy. By no means am I stating Giannis,Melo, and Khris are Kareem,Magic, and Worthy but Mike’s offense could be ran like Riley’s.
Giannis is a lot like Magic, he can play the center position if needed and is an absolute blur on fast breaks. Giannis can rifle passes to perimeter shooters on fast breaks and has impecable court vision. You surround the court with Korver,Melo,Khris, and Brook to finish a game in the fourth quarter and I like my chances with Giannis as the floor general. I am not guaranteeing the Bucks a title if they sign Carmelo Anthony but it’s a worthwhile risk.
