Why should Lebron have to leave? He wants to play more off the ball for the remainder of his career so why not find some way to get a third team involved to pair Lebron with Westbrook? Westbrook could run the point and alleviate Lebron’s playmaking duties so he could conserve more energy to score more and play more defense. Westbrook has been racking up stats like no other superstar in the history of basketball but he has yet to win, so why not pair him with a 3 time champion and arguably the greatest player ever Lebron James?
Westbrook has this reputation about being all about his stats but realistically I just think he wants to win that bad and Lebron and Westbrook’s personalities certainly bounce off each other. They are both alphas on the court, only one is more pass first at heart and score
second and the other wants to attack all game but in the back of his mind knows he has to facilitate for his mates to still be recognized as a point guard. Oh yes Westbrook did lead the league in total assists for those who say he is a self absorbed superstar.
The Cavaliers don’t have much assets to play with but they do hold the 8th overall pick in the coming draft, maybe they can pair the pick with a combination of Clarkson,Hill, and Love? Or maybe get a 3rd team involved to make the salaries work. I’ll tell you this much if Westbrook comes to Cleveland Lebron will retire a Cavalier. Yes he’s played with Dwayne Wade and Kyrie Irving in the past who are both known to be killers on the court, but nothing like Russell Westbrook.
Russell Westbrook might be the most intense superstar the NBA has ever seen, I could think of only 3 superstars who could match his intensity and those are Michael Jordan,Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett. Watching Game 1 of the NBA Finals Lebron James was legendary pouring in 51 points 8 rebounds and 8 assists but man I sat there wondering what if the Cavs could have a scorer like Westbrook who could get them 25-40 points and make life easier for Lebron? It might be a pipe dream in most minds but if you are Koby Altman you do not let a superstar the caliber of Lebron slip away. If he can somehow bring Westbrook to Cleveland Lebron could reach 5-6 rings before he retires and of course Westbrook can capture the elusive trophy that has evaded him his whole career up until now. Hope the Cavs figure a way to get both those studs together on one team, it would be sweet to see Lebron and Russ against Steph and Durant.
