RJ Barrett is built like a mack truck and is a 6’7 lefty who has committed to play at Duke 2018. He projects to be a top 5 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and judging off what I have seen from him in high school games he reminds me of a James Harden/Lebron James hybrid.
Now some of you might think I’m reaching but RJ is not scrawny what so ever and is
very strong for his age already, he reminds me a lot of Ben Simmons and Lebron James the way he just accelerates with the basketball coming down court. He is an excellent finisher at the rim and has a very smooth stroke and form on his jumper.
He can isolate on defenders and has a pretty good handle, in the NBA he projects as a shooting guard with the ability to be a point forward at the 3 since he is pretty good at finding the open man on the perimeter in case he drives into traffic. He is a superb decision maker when he drives and is more then willing to make the extra pass, plus he moves very well off the ball.
Right now he is 6’7 200 pounds so he is definitely not a tweener, I’d like to think he’ll put on 10-15 pounds before the 2019 NBA Draft and be arguably the un disputable number 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He has the whole package as a combo guard/forward and getting some college experience and mentoring from Duke legend Mike Krzyzewski won’t hurt either.
To conclude any team looking for a 20 possible 30 ppg scorer in the future should look no further. RJ’s ceiling could be becoming the best player in the NBA within 2-3 years if not sooner, he is just that good offensively and no NBA players will be bullying RJ around, have a good one guys.
