Cedi Osman was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2015 NBA draft 31st overall and traded in exchange for draft rights to Tyus Jones. He is a combo small-forward/shooting guard who is only 22 years old but has a fearless mentality towards the game. Lebron is the Cavaliers’s franchise player but
he is up for free-agency and might make an exit if he fails to win a championship in June.
The Cavaliers are all in with both Isaiah thomas and Lebron James having one year left on their respective contracts and just in case they do decide to leave, no worries Cedi Osman will be ready to emerge. 6’8 215 and a very good passer and ever improving 3 point shooter, he does not get much minutes since the Cavaliers have more experienced veterans like Dwyane Wade,Jae Crowder,Iman Shumpert and Kyle Korver who take away from his minutes. Wade is on a 1 year contract himself so that opens up even more minutes for Osman.
So let’s say Iman Shumpert decides to opt-out of his contract and go elsewhere and Wade decides to sign elsewhere and Lebron leaves. Cedi Osman would be thrust into a larger role and could possibly develop into a small-forward version of Manu Ginobili. His mentality and game style replicates Manu Ginobili only that he is not lefty, Manu Ginobili has been a fierce competitor his whole career and has been fearless in clutch moments his whole career.
Osman is watching from the bench and learning the game, I mean just imagine how much you can learn from stars like Lebron and Wade who have won rings together and know what it takes to win? Sounds like a great situation if you ask me. The game of basketball is mental and playing with confidence, Osman sure does not look like a rookie to me. When he gets passes at the 3 point line he shoots with no hesitation, he pushes the ball up the floor even with Lebron and Wade on the court, and moves very well off the ball.
To conclude,The Cavaliers move the ball a lot more when Osman is on the court and when Lebron is on the bench he serves as play-maker and shooter which is something the Cavaliers lacked all of last-season behind only Kyrie and Lebron. Only time will tell Cedi Osman’s future but the Cavaliers got a gem in Osman, it won’t be a rebuild if Lebron leaves more retooling instead to stay amongst the East elites.
