Anyone observing the Chicago Bulls should see why Gar Forman parted ways with All-Star Jimmy Butler. The Chicago Bulls obtained 7th overall pick Lauri Markkanen who looks like an all-star in the making, he is no stiff big with no skill.
Lauri Markkanen can create his own shot, score on the drive, come off screens and knock down perimeter jumpers, his post-game needs refining but the kid is very crafty for his size and a really good finisher off a pick and roll.
How about Kris Dunn who never got a real shot under Timberwolves coach Tom Thibedoau, Dunn’s minutes were inconsistent all year long. He did show flashes of what he could be but Tom kept him on a short leash which Fred Hoiberg has loosened. Kris Dunn is coming off a 20 point 12 assist performance in a close victory over the Hornets were Dunn and rookie Markkanen came up clutch down the stretch and got the victory.
Zach Lavine who is coming from the Timberwolves and looked at as the center piece of the Jimmy Butler dead is still a couple weeks away but there is no reason he should not become a 20 point scorer on the Bulls since he was able to average 18 playing with Wiggins and Towns. That leaves the Bulls with 3 pieces to build with and a possible top 5 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
The season will tell us where the Chicago Bulls should look to draft but barring injury Dunn,Lavine, and Markkanen should be locks at their respective positions. The Bulls have options, Michael Porter Jr, Marvin Bagley,Deandre Ayton, Mohamed Bamba, or Luka Doncic all potential superstars who could fit in. The Bulls will be contending by 2020.
