Lauri Markkanen was drafted 7th overall by the Bulls in a trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves. I see why Chicago gave up their franchise player for the 7th pick,Lavine, and Dunn and it was because of
Lauri Markkanen who is a 7 foot stretch 4 with all the tools to be the next Dirk Nowitzki.
As a matter a fact, Lauri is actually more athletic then Dirk was coming into the league and has scored 20+ points multiple times this season already and we are not even 20 games in yet. Lauri Markkanen can take defenders off the dribble, come off screens and shoot perimeter jumpers, he can post up and shoot turn-around jumpers with ease and has impeccable footwork for a 7 footer with a killer instinct on the scoring end I have not seen since Kevin Garnett.
The Bulls have one cornerstone in Lauri and possibly two more coming with the return of dynamic wing Zach Lavine who if healthy can become a 25 ppg scorer for the Bulls plus the Bulls will more then likely draft top 5 in the 2018 NBA Draft and pick up another cornerstone which might be one of the best drafts we have had in a decade with potential superstars like Bagley,Porter Jr,Doncic,Bamba, and Ayton available for Chicago’s choosing.
Judging of what I’ve seen from Lauri Markkanen so far he has the makings of a perennial all-star very soon and might pop up in next year’s all-star game if he continues to develop and get the minutes.
